I've been waisting time tonight down loading music & figuring out how to share my itunes from my imac to macbook. .. I got it... I checked out Jerry's Artist Outlet today in West Orange. NJ really stinks when it comes to well stocked art stores. But I must say, Jerry's surprised me. I bought silk screen supplies, canvases, checked out mold making kits, the airbrush paint stock & the Montana spray paint. Their prices were pretty good, esp. on the canvases & spray paint ($7.80). I'm hoping to do some silk screening using water soluable oil pastels & create some encaustic collages on 4"x5" canvases I bought. I like the idea of working small. Usually when I start a larger painting, I can't rest until I feel its done. It keeps me up at night, tossing & turning. Ahh, the tormented mind of an artist...but I wouldn't want it any other way. :)
This is where I spend most of my week. My hands are forever stained with paint & ink, but I've gotten really good at cleaning airbrushes and am getting better at silk screening! I've been thinking about it, and I've come to realize that I truly enjoy doing art with others. I love going places and seeing things that stimulate me visually, and I get excited as to how I can share a style of art or technique with my students. That's what I love. That's what makes me feel alive and connected. I enjoy doing my own art, but I wouldn't want to do it full time. I get too inside my own head and start going stir crazy. I love my reality where I can go to MS #4 and work creatively with students all day. I feel very blessed. |
