Altered Art Workshop

Art Is My Life
Altered Art: Therapeutic Self-Expression
Presenter: Kristen Marino, MPS, ATR-BCBoard Certified Art Therapist; Certified NJ K-12 Art Educator & School Counselor Program Description:Creating a piece of altered art can speak to both the artist and the viewer on more than one level. The imagery and process of creating have the potential to reach deep into one’s subconscious that often leaves the artist craving to make more. Using a variety of Ranger Ink Products participants incorporated collage, painting and stamping methods to create unique 3-D assemblages that indulged their inner psyches.
The purpose of this workshop was to engage art therapists & related clinicians in the process of creating art that relates to Jungian theory. Altered art utilizes a variety of materials and techniques that often include collage/photo images that are personal as well as universal. This connects with Jung’s theories of the unconscious, collective unconscious, mythology and archetypes. How this type of art can be beneficial to clients and what type of clients may best benefit from it was discussed.
Workshop supplies included: 7 Gypsies City Scape & House Board Kits; Art Chix Studio collage images; Paper Flea Market photos & collage materials; K&C Company Designer Papers; Ranger Distress Inks; Ranger Glossy & Crackle Accents; Ranger Stickles; Assortment of Rubber Stamps & Stencils; Ranger Memory Glass & Metallic Foil; Collage bits & pieces collected over time.
A special "thank you" to Ranger Ink Industries for donating all the Ranger supplies for this NJ workshop!
